A very deserving player and we are lucky to get him.
If there is a better way to cap his high school football career, Lamar Dawson doesn’t know what it would be.
The Boyle County senior helped the Rebels go 30-0 the last two seasons and win back-to-back state titles. He’s been a first-team all-state player the last two years. He won the Gatorade Player of the Year and shared the Paul Hornung Award with Ballard’s DeVante Parker. He’s been recruited by many of the nation’s elite programs, including No. 2 Oregon and Florida, along with Kentucky and Louisville. And now he has been named Kentucky’s Mr. Football.
“It’s a big deal, but it also says a lot about our team,” the modest Dawson said. “I’ve always dreamed of winning it. It’s just a dream come true.”
“It might put a little pressure on me to stay in state, but I don’t think it will affect my decision. It’s a good pressure, though, knowing I am respected this way in the state,” he said. Johnson said winning Mr. Football did help sway his decision to stay home and play for Kentucky and then-coach Hal Mumme rather than sign with a traditional football power. “I think if people in the state respect you that much, and even though you are being highly recruited, knowing the hometown school is wanting you, I think being Mr. Football does play a part in your decision,” Johnson said.

UK hasn't pulled him in yet and if they have, I haven't seen it announced by any media. I sure hope the Cats can bring the young man on board.

boom, you are right about Dawson not having deceided yet. Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part but i think we will get him. The worst case scenerio would be we don't get him and he goes to Louisville.

What position does he play? I couldn't get much about him from the article.

Tip, here is a Courier Journal article that gives some good information on Dawson.
Dawson, a 6-foot-4 235-pounder, posted 158 tackles and four interceptions in helping the Rebels win their second straight Class 4-A championship.
He has not yet committed to a college but has narrowed his choices to Kentucky, Louisville, Oregon, Florida, Southern California, Michigan and Tennessee. He plans to make a choice in February.
Dawson also saw time at running back and tight end, rushing for 686 yards and 15 touchdowns and catching 19 passes for 270 yards and a TD. He helped Boyle County post a 43-1 record over the past three seasons.
"I think he's probably the most talented young man that I've ever coached," Larry French said. "He's one of those young men, they don't come around very often, but when they do you want to take the time and watch them develop and watch them play. It's an enjoyable experience."
Dawson was the top vote-getter on The Courier-Journal's All-State team, was named the Gatorade Kentucky Player of the Year and shared the Paul Hornung Award with Parker. He is the only Kentuckian chosen to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 8 in San Antonio.
Dawson is the second Mr. Football from Boyle County, joining Jeff Duggins (2001.

Wow! That guy can pursue the ball. He also has a knack for squeezing through gaps in the blocking. An amazing linebacker!
