It hasn't officially been confirmed but doesn't sound good at all.

The rumor mill started churning this afternoon as whispers that Kentucky quarterback Ryan Mossakowski has decided to transfer from the program gained traction. I contacted his father this morning and have asked around but have received no official confirmation. WLEX, though, says that their sources are telling them that Mossakowski has cleaned out his locker and decided to transfer.

Mossakowski is a former four-star recruit and was rated as the second-strongest arm in the class of 2009, behind only USC’s Matt Barkley. He redshirted his freshman season after shoulder surgery and was expected to play for the baseball team this spring and battle for the starting quarterback position with Morgan Newton. He chose UK over Alabama, Auburn and Texas A&M in 2009 and would most likely head to a JuCo and then take another stab at the recruiting process.

This is a bummer. I had always hoped to see Moss behind center next year. I still don't have much confidence in Newton as a primary QB. In fact, I was kind of hoping to see Moss step in for Hartline, and Newton slide over to run the Wildcat in Cobb's absence.

If I remember correctly, he was a 5 star recruit and rated much higher than Newton. He hurt his shoulder and had surgery. I was hoping that he would win the job this coming spring. Who knows, maybe he will come back or maybe he needs a fresh start to get playing time.

Boom, i'm all most certain that both Newton Mossakowski were 4 star quarterbacks. Mossakowski was however a All-America quarterback as selected by SuperPrep and PrepStar magazines. He threw for 7,433 yards and 51 touchdowns during his career at Centennial High School in Frisco, Texas.

Newton looked pathetic in the bowl game. And now our only backup is an untested freshman. I don't get Joker on this one.

This is the same-o same-o, until the nuckle heads that run the athletic dept go out and hire a coach that can actually coach we will contnue to waller in the basement of the sec.

I looked back and Moss was a four star, but still highly ranked. As for people grumbling that this is the beginning of the end, I sure don't believe that.

I am no fan of Newton starting, because he has not performed, when he has been in the game. Will another player win the job or will Newton improve and be a "game time" player? We shall see. Rand Sanders has coached some really great college QBs. It is not his first rodeo. I seriously doubt that the UK staff has forgotten how to coach or how to recruit the talent they need. The fact is that some players just don't pan out. The Cats have been very lucky and/or very skillful at the QB position in the past. Even the much maligned Hartline put up impressive numbers and was one of the leaders in the SEC, this past season. All that being said, I was very dissapointed in the performance of Newton in the bowl game.

I'm starting to. We weren't all that great under Brooks. Joker was to be the afterburner that would take us to the next level. Did not see ANY signs of that this past season.

Moreso, what I saw is that Joker's playcalling was probably more influential in causing the problems under Brooks.
