It's hard to take alot of positive things from last nights game but...

Alot of room for improvements. Take 3 turnovers from our stats, those can be corrected. That's a positive.

Wide receivers dropped ALOT of catchable balls. This can be corrected. That's a positive.

Defense never gave up the big play last night. That's a positive..

Special teams looked pretty good. VERY IMPORTANT for Joker to recruit good Kickers... That's a positive.

WE WON an UGLY football game...That's a positive.

Considering that forcing turnovers in order to return to a high net turnover state was to be a prime focus for our defense this year, it isn't a promising start. Yes, it can be corrected, but see below..

I am not as confident about this as you are. These receivers, by and large, did not see the field last year very much because they dropped a lot of balls. Having gone on this long, it seems to be a lack of ability more than bad technique. We have recruited for speed and size at the WR spot, and we have that in spades. But, speed and size don't catch balls -- good hands do. Time will tell if I am wrong, but I just don't see any receivers with good hands on this squad...

Gloomily, I am getting very worried about Central Michigan next week...

I think some of the receivers did'nt try hard enough to catch the balls i.e. Matt roarke had two hit him right in the hands should have been caught, you've got to have heart.

Well, we do have room for improvement. I think if the offense can start gaining some yards and string a few first downs together, we'll be OK because the defense looks pretty good, even though their running back did gain yards on us. We just can't keep having 3 and outs and make the defense stay on the field the entire game. I think that we'll steadily improve and if Morgan Newton ever gains his confidence, which would be aided considerably if his receivers would pull in some of those balls that they dropped last night, then we'll do well this season. At least against the teams that we normally do well against. Now if we could just crack through vs Tennesse or somebody, then we'd really be making progress. Still, I'm keeping my optimism about this team.
