He is special but is going to have a lot to live up to if he already is being compared to Tim Couch.
The Wildcats quarterback of the future was named Kentucky’s Gatorade high school football player of the year. He follows in the footsteps of another great UK signal caller, Tim Couch, who won the national award in addition to the statewide. The Highlands Bluebirds currently have a 14-0 record and will play Franklin-Simpson in Bowling Green on Friday for the Class 4-A state title.
Towles has put up gaudy statistics all season long. Going into the final game, he has accumulated 3,637 passing yards to go along with an absurd 41 to one touchdown to interception mark. On the ground, he has 467 yards rushing on 81 attempts (5.77 yard per rush average) plus 14 touchdowns. And for those of you who still don’t believe that Towles will stick to his commitment to UK, he told Larry Vaught after the win over Tennessee, “I wouldn’t say the win makes me feel any better about Kentucky because I have always been 110 percent committed.”
