The funny part of that story is the following:
quote: Kentucky, unless it begins pumping some of its basketball money into facility upgrades for the football program
I guess Gamecock man doesn't realize that the UK Football program generates almost twice as much revenue as UK basketball. I believe UK is like #18 in the nation for football revenue. [ 09-29-2012, 09:16 AM: Message edited by: Trey Ball ]
-------------------- Wife's Mad. Told me we never talk anymore. And just last nite while watching super bowl told her 2 or 3 times to get me a coke and popcorn. Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.

You are correct. The guy was clueless on the revenue. Football is UK largest cash cow of the the two sports, mainly because of the SEC tv contracts. UK funnels off that money for the non revenue sports and back to the general fund of the University as well, if I am not mistaken.
And, on the disparity between footaball and Men's basketball, wasn't the coal lodge funded by booster money? I assume that there are boosters who will pony up for football, but wouldn't they want to see some hope for a winning program, before they donate? I think UK is going to have to dole out the 5 million per year like they did for Cal to get a elite coach in here. A top tier coach will get top tier players to come to campus and sign on to play at UK.
I like Joker, but he just isn't going to get it done. Giving him 2 more years just ain't going to get it done unless he somehow talks Alabama into trading recruiting classes or something.
So, that's what I think football revenue should be spent on. Winning costs money in this league. But, winning also makes money. Much more than what UK would be paying out by a lot.
Boise State did it. UK can do it too.
