Just seen this. There is a good possibility that the search for a new coach may take a while. So if the up-and-comers are not interested, who is. Besides Bobby Petrino. That's a shame if that's all we can get. I'd say we are at the bottom of the dung pile.

Posted: 26 Nov 2012 05:18 PM PST
Kyle Tucker, of the Courier Journal, is reporting that 3 coaches have turned downed offers to come to Kentucky. The three names that said “no thanks” are Butch Jones, Sonny Dykes, and Mark Stoop.
Per a source inside UK athletics, Butch Jones, Sonny Dykes and Mark Stoops have all said “no thanks” to Kentucky.

Source on UK football search: “All the agents are telling their coaches it’s a dead-end job and if they’re an up-and-comer, don’t touch it.”

OK, here is my rant...
One thing that irritates me is when people say we are a basketball school. Funny! You know, Ohio State is a football school. Does their basketball team stink? NO!!! Michigan is a serious football school, is their basketball team competitive? Texas, Florida, Michigan St., Notre Dame and I can go on and on and on. We have awesome fans and there is no excuse for Mitch Barnhardt not be able to get a good quality coach. Let's face it, most coaches will coach anywhere for the money. Don't pay them $600,000 or 1.5 million, pay them the damn 3-4 million and be done with it. I just can't figure out why UK is so stingy on their football program. I read articles that the football program makes more money than the basketball program. Again, you put a very attractive coach in there that is a die hard recruiter and they will win games. There is no excuse to why we can't be competitive to the likes of the Mississippi States of the world!!!
Brian Kelly took over Cincinnati and made them a top 10 team in 3yrs. When he went to Notre Dame, just about every sports analyst said even him wont make a difference in South Bend. Well, they're in the title game.

Well that really didn't take long at all. Stoops is the new coach, and apparently Kyle Tucker cannot be trusted.

Bluehoot, My guess is you are referencing my post on another thread when you say,

"One thing that irritates me is when people say we are a basketball school. Funny! You know, Ohio State is a football school. Does their basketball team stink? NO!!! Redbone always told me I could be irritating, guess I should have paid more attention.

I actually thought about Michigan when I made that post but forgot about Ohio State. You're right they both have Powerhouse football teams and most of the time their basketball teams are very good but not up to the standards of UK, Duke, NC and a couple of others. In my mind, they are the exception. As for the others I might disagree with one program or the other.

You make my other point very well when you say,

"Brian Kelly took over Cincinnati and made them a top 10 team in 3yrs. When he went to Notre Dame, just about every sports analyst said even him wont make a difference in South Bend. Well, they're in the title game."

If we get lucky and hire a successful unknow coach, he will take his resume and go to a football program with better history.

I continue to believe the outlook for Kentucky football remains bleak, at least for my lifetime.

Yep and I believe that Top 10 Cincinnati team, who played in the EXTREMELY WEAK Big East, got absolutely crushed by the #2 team in the SEC that year Florida 51-24.

My guess is a similar result is coming to Notre Dame in January if Bama beats UGA. His Notre Dame team struggled to beat bad teams such as Pitt/BYU/Boston College and their earlier wins over Michigan and Michigan State don't look to good now either. Notre Dame played a weak weak schedule. If they played UK's schedule, which was one of the softest in the SEC this year, I think Notre Dame would have finished 9-3 at best (I don't think they could have beaten Florida/Georgia/South Carolina).
