Hopefully Towles will have a good summer getting ready for next season and comes back with a great season. I believe however he hasn't got the position locked up and will get some serious completion over the summer.
During his final session with the UK media after Saturday’s loss to Louisville, Neal Brown was asked about the slip in quarterback Patrick Towles’ play during the second half of the season.
“You all get tired of hearing me. It’s like playing rewind. But a lot of it comes down to other people around him, and they’re (Louisville) really good up front. Mauldin made a lot of plays. That kid, no. 98 made a lot of plays,” said Brown. “They did a good job covering it.
“So sometimes when he struggles it’s not necessarily his fault. He’s got to be more accurate, and that’s something he’s gotta really work on in the offseason. But he’s gotta be more accurate with the football.”

Towles needs to be more accurate, true. But IMHO, what he really, REALLY needs to do is improve his ability to find the open receiver. He appears to lock down on one receiver and stay there. I'm not sure he has the aptitude to throw quick hits over the middle because it takes him too much time to make up his mind. Some have posted the opinion that Patrick doesn't go through his progressions. I'm not sure what that means, but maybe it's the same as not being able to see the whole field, something that I think Patrick struggles with.
