It sounds like Jacob Hyde has a chance to make that happen.
Kentucky coach Mark Stoops said there had been only “minor” position changes during spring practice before revealing Wednesday that both defensive lineman Jacob Hyde and tight end C.J. Conrad were taking some snaps at fullback to give UK more bulk in the backfield.
“Jacob Hyde, he’s trying to get in the backfield and use a little bigger guy at fullback every once in a while, short yardage situations and things like that. It’s not a major, a complete change. We may try to fool around with him there and see if he can give us a little punch,” said Stoops. “We’re working on it. C.J. Conrad. He’s been very impressive.”
Conrad, a true freshman who joined the team in January, has impressed Stoops.
O ”You just see some very good ability, great size, but you also see that knack, those instincts. He’s not perfect, but he’s going to be a very good football player,” Stoops said.
