After breaking a 60-yard run in the first quarter to jump start Kentucky’s offense, sophomore Boom Williams did not get the ball the second quarter.

Offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson said he didn’t know why that happened, which is almost as puzzling as some of the play calls to end the game.

“The second quarter, I don’t know how many plays in the second quarter. I don’t know what play calls there were. There were calls,” said Dawson after Thursday’s 30-27 loss to Auburn. “I know we ran the ball a good bit. He ran the ball, what? Sixteen times. And then there were a couple of run plays there where we didn’t even get the handoff that were to him. And there were a couple of pass plays that were designed to go to him that they covered.”

So nothing was wrong physically with Williams in the second quarter?

“He was tired. We took him out for a little while because he was tired. He had a big first quarter. He’s not a Nintendo little guy. He gets tired,” Dawson said.

Everybody gets subbed except the QB. If one of his arms was about to fall off, they wouldn't put the 2nd string QB in the game.

Not to many coachs if any would take out a quarterback out that throws for 360 yards!

I like the coaching staff and how they have brought in better players, but I do not like how they make the QB position a sacred cow. Yes, Towles has a gun for an arm. Football is about perfection and not making mistakes. He still hasn't figured it out between the ears and makes stupid mistakes. He is very inaccurate on a lot of throws that kill the offense and put the receivers in position to get concussions or back injuries, making them reach back or leap in the air on what should be simple throws. He has a cannon for an arm and hits 50 yard passes on a rope. But, for every on that he hits, he misses on three more.

Hitting the receiver in the hands in stride is what the spread offense requires. The receiver catch the ball in space and can yardage after the catch. Towles not only eyes down his receivers and makes inaccurate throws, but he throws into triple coverage in the end zone.

Yes, Towles brought Kentucky back in the Auburn game. let's not forget who threw away points in the end zone on a stupid, stupid play and killed their momentum in the first place.

The staff is waiting on things to "click" for him. They may never click. I don't see him making the NFL. He is way too inaccurate.

I still can't figure why the coaching staff is so reluctant to play two QBs. Makes no sense to me.
