With the firing of Mark Richt, why not we go after him to be our next coach. Its time for UK to get a proven head coach instead of taking chances on mediocre coaches and coordinators with no experiences. UK is loaded with money and there is no reason they couldn't make this work.

Too logical.

A lot of things in life are about timing. Kentucky still has a coach on the payroll and I don't see him not getting a 4th year.

Richt has been a coach for 15 years and has had a winning season every year but one. (145-51)
He has been to a bowl every year he has coached and his bowl record is 9-5. They will be invited to a bowl this year too but he will not be the coach.
Maryland, Virginia and Missouri are showing interest and would bet he will hear from a couple more schools in the near future.
In the Link is a good article on Mark Richt.

If your gonna dream for top HC, dream big. If Chip Kelly gets fired in the NFL, that is a guy that is worth selling the farm for.

I'm a huge Richt fan. He made a cameo appearance in "Facing the Giants" the movie!
Quality human being as well as a great coach!

Agree. He is also outstanding in developing talent. Me being a big Bengals fan, we drafted a lot of Georgia guys.

At 3.6M per yr thru 2019 he ain't going no where (stoops that is).

145-51 says it all however Richt would be out of his cotton piking mind to come in and try to turn the Kentucky program around but that's just my opinion which doesn't mean a hell of a lot. Like Ed so rightly points out Stoops isn't going no where.

Reports are that Richt is the new coach of Miami.
Who is Georgia going to get that is better than Richt?
I am wondering if they already have some guy lined up? I would, if i was firing a winner like that guy.

Boom, it doesn't make a lot of sense as how could they possibly get a better than coach than Richt? Do you think they knew Richt was leaving and fired him first?

Kirby Smart, the defensive coordinator of Bama is the new Georgia Head Coach. He was already named last weekend. It's almost as if they had him lined up before Richt was out the door!

I didn't hear that....but they had better have had somebody lined up....so I guess they did.
Maybe their new guy will be better, but I think it is a risk to take a coordinator and not get an established HC that has a staff that he can bring in and get to work.
I would think that Georgia is a program that could have found a hot coach that has taken a team from nowhere to bowl games by great recruiting and great coaching. Just like Kentucky went and got Cal,,,,who was already a great recruiter, he was an even better recruiter when he became part of a storied program.
Getting an OC or a DC is what programs like Kentucky do, not Georgia. Will be interesting to see if it works out. I am sure they will win games. But, will they get the same level of recruits or better? Will they be able to sustain the program, when the new staff starts putting their stamp on the program. I am no expert, but I think they made a mistake in firing Richt, just to promote a DC who is waiting his turn to be a head coach.
There is no way Richt would have left Georgia to go to Miami, other than he needed a job. Miami is a mess. But, I do believe Richt can turn it around. I bet he didn't have a hard time convincing his wife to move to South Beach.
I am very surprised that they fired him and went after a DC.

Kirby Smart played at UGA. I'm sure that may have played into their decision to hire him somewhat.
The U has to be happy to get Richt as their coach. Richt played at the U so he is going "home" as well.

It probably won't be long and Miami will again be a team to be reckoned with like they were in the early 2000's.

Especially in the ACC where Mark will probably thrive. I can't wait to see him hand UL their butt's!

Louisville's all time record against Miami is 3-9-1 and dates back to 1933.

Louisville however has beat Miami the last 3 times they have played them.
