Kentucky is still without a wide receivers coach after losing Chad Scott to North Carolina last week, but there’s a name we should keep a close eye on as a potential candidate.
He is Tommy Mangino, the son of former Kansas head coach Mark Mangino, and he’s an up-and-comer in the coaching game. He spent time as a graduate assistant under his father with the Jayhawks, before moving down to Hutchinson Community College, and then on to Iowa State, where he spent the last two seasons as the Cyclones’ receivers coach.
Now, Mangino is a free agent in the coaching game, and if his Twitter follows are any indication of his future, he’s poised to become a Kentucky Wildcat.
His most recent follows are:
— Marc Hill, UK’s executive associate athletic director for Internal Operations — Pam Hinshaw, wife of new UK offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, Darin Hinshaw — UK Stoops Troops — Jimmy Brumbaugh, UK’s defensive line coach — John Schlarman, UK’s offensive line coach — Frank Buffano, UK director of football operations — Mitch Barnhart — The official UK Football account — Eddie Gran, new UK head coach of offense — Mark Stoops — Darin Hinshow
That’s a pretty telling sign, considering he only follows 112 people.
Remember the name.
