The announcers of last nights game made a comment that Stoops was having a statue put outside Commonwealth Stadium in honor of the first black player to integrate the UK football team. Does anyone know if this is correct, the announcers stated this was something Stoops wanted to do and that UK was allowing it. Why would we need a statue depicting such an occasion is befuddling to me.

I thought the same thing, SCWC. I also heard something about four statues.

Paul, that is the same thing I heard, 4 statues to commerate the first four blacks to play football for UK. I had not read about anything like that on any of the forums and just wondered if my ears were deceiving me. I personally think that would be a major slap in the face to all the young white boys who have put on a UK football uniform over the many years of the program. I found this:
Kentucky doesn’t have any statues of past football players or coaches. You have to wonder when one will be erected of former wide receiver turned NFL star Randall Cobb. The Wildcats do, however, have a statue of a wildcat outside of Memorial Coliseum.
