I can't swear this is true but it looks like the SEC teams will be participating in 12 bowl games this year. Even MS St who finished 5-7 are in the St. Petersburg Bowl on Dec 26 along with Vandy in the Independence Bowl. Only 2 teams got left out, Ole Miss and Missouri.

Why is Miss St. in a bowl? Thought you have to win 6 games. They will probably beat Miami OH.

blue, the reason Mississippi State is in a bowl game with only 6 wins is a team becomes bow eligible if there aren’t enough programs with at least six wins for all bowl slots, the NCAA fills the remaining openings with teams holding five wins in order of each program’s Academic Progress Rate, a figure assigned to a team based on its student-athletes’ academic performance.

Well if the bowl bid tiebreaker is Academic Success, North Carolina should be bowl eligible every year........
