To our old ways of UK football that is, at least it appears that way at this point in the season.

As always, I’ll continue to watch but really don’t expect much. Maybe 3 wins? We really need a quarterback who can throw the ball. A kicker would help as well. Oh yea, playing until the play is over would be helpful.

I was thinking 2-8, but MSU laid an egg yesterday. We may eke out 3-7. Of course, we could also go 0-10. Embarrassing!

Dang Enterprise Cat! I’m just trying to be optimistic when I predict 3 wins. Quit being such a downer. 😁

It was painful to give two games away, but that is exactly what happened.

In both games, we were able to move the ball effectively, and our defense is adequate (but sure is giving up a lot more big plays this year). But we are not playing smart football. To wit:

(1) The holding penalty that negated what was likely a touchdown drive against Auburn.

(3) The interception at the goal line. BAD decision by Wilson to throw that ball!

(4) The fumble by Wilson as he spun away from a defender. That one hurt.

(5) The TD that was denied against Auburn (I still think the ball crossed the plane).

With smarter play, we could have been up by 14 points at halftime, and the second half would have played out very differently.

Against Old Miss, the missed extra point, the missed field goal, and our inablity to punch it in from first-and-goal really hurt after Rose started doing his victory strut before he was in the end-zone. Just ONE of those would have changed the outcome.

ALL of those things were unforced errors or poor execution on our part. We have some genuine SEC-caliber football players out there. But this year's team is missing something (confidence? leadership?) that shows up in stupid mistakes. We could easily be 2-0, guys. Those were winnable football games. If Stoops and company can get inside their heads and get them to play smart football, we will win games.

My personal opinion is that Terry is still rusty, and his decision making isn't as sharp as it was two years ago. I hope he can shake that off, but I also hope we see some snaps to our best backup QB.

Report from ringside.

Man that game was a real bummer. I never been on a worse roller coaster ride in my life. As was said above it looks like we are returning to the UK of old. We have no pass defense to speak of. Not too bad against the run but if they get thru the line we are lost.

Ole Miss had only the passing game to rely on. If we had their QB with our runners we would have a chance to be the highest scoring team in the country.

Wilson may not take us anywhere but to the city dump this year. Not sure if he will pan out for what we need because we only have 8 games to go. I believe there are 2 other QB's on the shelf that could do just as good.

Yeah, I predicted a possible 4 game win season but my expectations have dropped after yesterday and next week when we get clobbered by MS St. I see 3 wins, maybe with a possible against SC. Outside of that we would have to improve immensely to beat GA, AL, TN, and FL. There you go with at least 6 losses and maybe 7.
