After the loss to the Georgia Bulldogs, the Kentucky Wildcats are 6-1 with five regular-season games remaining.

It was the first time since 1950 that Kentucky had started a season 6-0 or better, and despite the loss to Georgia, a great season is still on the table.

So, where does UK end up when it is all said and done?

11/13: at Vanderbilt: Kentucky gets the last-place team in the SEC in Nashville, a place where they haven’t lost since 2015, and a team they’ve beaten five-straight times.

Vanderbilt will be coming off a bye week before the Kentucky game, as they face Missouri on Oct. 30.

11/20: New Mexico State: New Mexico State is one of the worst teams in Division I, and their two-week slate of Nov. 13 and Nov. 20 is brutal.

Before coming to Lexington, they travel to Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama. Assuming Alabama lays It on them, the Aggies could be pretty beat up from the Crimson Tide, leaving Kentucky to take care of the rest.

11/27: at Louisville: Kentucky and Louisville resume the Governor’s Cup series after a one-year hiatus in 2020.

The Cards sit in the middle of the pack of the ACC at 4-3 and could very well find themselves bowl eligible before the season is done.

Kentucky has won the last two meetings between the two by a combined score of 101-23, and the Wildcats rushed for close to 500 yards in Lexington in 2019.

So, what do you think Kentucky’s regular season record will be?

Let’s look at the remaining schedule.

The bye came at a much-needed time, after a brutal loss to Georgia that could have beaten the Wildcats twice if they didn’t have the bye week scheduled, à la 2018. This gave the Wildcats time for injuries to heal and players to recuperate after a hard fought game against the best team in the land.

10/30: at Mississippi State: Kentucky then travels to Starkville, a place where the Wildcats have not won since 2008. Starkville is always tough for Kentucky to play in, and there haven’t been many close games there since the 2008 win.

This team, however, is more than capable of walking out with a win against the Bulldogs, who lost 49-9 at home to Alabama before beating Vanderbilt 45-6 this past weekend.

11/6: Tennessee: The Vols will be coming to town on Nov. 6, and regardless of how well either team is playing, this one will be a crap shoot. Kentucky could be a 7-1 going into this game, with a chance to really go for that 10 or 11-win regular season if they can keep the Vols at bay in Lexington.

Tennessee has been playing their best football in years recently, even after the fiasco in Neyland against Ole Miss. The Vols gave Alabama a good push this past weekend before the Tide outscored the Vols 28-7 in the fourth quarter en route to a 52-24 win.

No problem with a 10-2 final record.

Wife's Mad. Told me we never talk anymore. And just last nite while watching super bowl told her 2 or 3 times to get me a coke and popcorn. Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.

9-3, we'll lose to Tennessee this week and then win out.

I suspect this team is damn embarrassed by how we performed on Saturday.

I think our defense should have played straight-up, not that ridiculous 2- or 3-man front and dropping everybody back in a soft zone. Even though we thought that would stop the Air Raid, it just played right into MSU's game. MSU ran the ball effectively and had easy 5-8 yard short passes all night long.

If we had just played our normal, attacking defense, I think we would have rattled their QB and disrupted their offense.

But, most embarrassing of all was our inexplicable decision to go all-in on a still-nascent passing game and give up on our strength, our running game.

So, both our offensive and defensive schemes were poorly-executed adjustments to MSU. Why didn't we force MSU to adjust to US????

I lay this one mainly on the coaches, but for sure our two offensive stars -- Levis and Rodriguez -- looked like they hadn't played in a year.

I just hope we can turn that embarrassment into sheer determination and beat the living crap out of Tennessee. After that, we look to win out. 10-2 is still possible!

Hoping 10-2, but expecting 9-3. Tennessee and Louisville are both capable of beating that embarrassment we put on the field Saturday.

Our offense has never been much more than capable thruout this season. If it wasn't for our defense we would not be 6-2 right now. We could win out but we could also finish 2-2. If we beat TN and Louis. we will be 10-2. If we lose either one of those games we could end up with either 8 or 9 wins. If so we can look to be playing in one of the normal bowl games we always get.

And there you have it. No defense. No win. Best we can do is 9-3 with wins over Vandy, New Mex. St and Louis. That is IF we can win those 3 games. Good season but that doesn't prove who we wanted to be. Very disappointing game to watch from the edge of the field. Only one more game to work and I'll be quitting. Hope my fortitude will allow me to work that final game. [Mad]
