Current Chicago Red Star and former University of Kentucky women’s soccer All-American Arin Gilliland will be returning to Lexington for this weekend’s Kick-Cancer match against Butler on Sunday night at 6 p.m. ET.
Gilliland was a three-time All-American under head coach Jon Lipsitz at Kentucky from 2011-14 before being drafted No. 8 overall by the Chicago Red Stars in January’s 2015 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Draft. The Lexington, Ky., native started in 17 of the Red Stars’ 19 matches this season, tallying two assists as the left back and helping lead Chicago to its first-ever NWSL playoff appearance on Sunday.
Sunday will be Gilliland’s first appearance in Lexington since being drafted by the Red Stars.
